For the past 70 years,
Kanchi Tamang has been carrying a sorrow so deep that nothing has been able to
mitigate it.Born in Sindupalchowk and being married to a man who lives in
Calcutta, she has been drowning in the midway of bliss and grief through out her
life. But the strength she has come across and being able to stand on her own
at this very age is admirable.
Kanchi Tamang used to
live with her brother and sister in law when she was going through the pain of
her mother's untimely death from excessive labor pain. She was not welcomed there that much. She was
hated and viciously beaten up. So she decided to come to Kathmandu carrying her
son studying in class 8.
She earned hard for her
son and got him the admission in 8thStandard in a government school. Later, she let him take the Cable
Installation Training. Now her son owns a cable installation showroom in Naxal.
She has done every bit of a thing that every mother would do for their child.
In a while, she went through a shattering moment of her husband's demise over
Her son got married to a
girl from Bhujel Family. Slowly Kanchi was becoming a burden to her son and
daughter in law. It was complicated and intricate to stay like a lumber to her
own child. Thinking not to hitch
her son's happy married life, she just left. Carrying a heavy heart, without
saying a word to any of them she just walked away from their life. Apparently
she again sacrificed herself for the sake of her child's Happiness.
After surrendering and
compromising all the valued things she have had once, she still lives in a
dignified manner.Regardless of being a hobo assembling garbage, living on her own and sleeping in
the roadways, she holds self satisfied smirk
on her face.
When asked "If you
lost your husband at an early age of 30, why didn't you get married
She laughed and said
"I don't need a man and go through another marriage for my Living."
